In times of a shortage of medical specialists and an increasing burden on the healthcare system, early detection of diseases such as prostate cancer is becoming increasingly difficult. Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men, but many men are reluctant to undergo the important screening test or do not attend it at all. This is often due to shame, fear or discomfort about the examination, but also to long waiting times and the lack of specialised personnel to carry out screening examinations. Prostacare meets these challenges with an innovative solution that enables men to carry out the screening independently and discreetly within their own four walls.

The device is made available via a loan system in pharmacies. Prostacare is used via a user-friendly app that provides clear step-by-step instructions on how to prepare, insert and position the device. In addition, the app automatically calibrates the device based on information such as the user’s age, weight and height, ensuring correct use even without prior medical knowledge.

The integration of artificial intelligence enables the ultrasound images to be analysed in real time and marks the outline of the prostate in colour. The AI uses ‘Object Detection’ and ‘Anomaly Detection’ algorithms to identify possible tissue changes and anomalies.

In the event of abnormal findings, the images are transmitted in encrypted form to a doctor, who checks the results and contacts the man if necessary to initiate further measures. Prostacare is cleaned, recharged and serviced at the pharmacy when it is returned.

Visually, Prostacare is reminiscent of a razor, which makes it familiar for men to use. It can be charged via a USB-C connection. A bevelled top edge and the placement of the On button ensure the correct posture. The device is made of high-quality stainless steel, which is durable and hygienic. The matt stainless steel on the body ensures a comfortable grip and prevents slipping, while medical silicone is used at contact points such as the on button and the silicone ring.

The tapered probe neck facilitates anal insertion and enables precise and correct placement of the ultrasound probe. The modular design of the device allows it to be easily dismantled into its individual components, which simplifies cleaning, maintenance and repair. This not only contributes to the longevity of the product, but also makes Prostacare ecologically sustainable. The supplied carrying case is discreetly designed so that the user’s discretion is maintained when collecting, storing and returning the kit.
